hello again!

i stopped for a while because i am so bad at technology and get frustrated that i can't make it look better - but i am back. i don't want to forget these days and the details.

clara - 5 years and 9 months.

future - you want to be a chef, but it will really just be a cover because you will truly be a spy.
(but i have to say that you spend most of your days in the kitchen cooking so you better start working on your sleuth skills).

favorites:
being in the middle of the action
creating the action
taking pictures
narnia
star wars
baking
mixing
measuring
inventing recipes
leaving messes in the kitchen
climbing
eating snow
playing with cousins
knowing as much as possible about anything and everything
grandparents

prayer:
"dear god, thank you for my family and everything in the world and everything you give us, amen."

style:
the 'fancy' is almost gone
hello kitty
jeans and t-shirts
blue (i never thought the day would come)

you are a constant blur of movement and energy. always ready for fun. when i can get you to slow down for a minute you will read me a book or two and you are learning fast! you help me around the house when you get inspired. last week you hid in the playroom for an hour and wouldn't let anyone in until you had the closet perfectly clean and organized. right before christmas you locked your door and surprised us with a spotless room with decorations set up for a family party. we set out a blanket and ate the brownies you had baked.

you are one of a kind.

Our biggest adventure of the summer.
A long visit to Jake's roots. Denver to
see the grandparents with (almost) the whole
Poetzl nation.

Some extreme picture taking.
Life a little bit boring? Take your
3 little ones and set them on
some rocks in a Colorado river for
a photo shoot. Quite a rush.

Hanging out in Aspen.

More adventures to come...

Henry Is One!

If this is what raising
little boys is like then give
me ten more! (Well maybe
one is good, your sisters
need a lot of attention so
I don't want to have to take
any more time away from you then i already have too)!

favorites:
words;
uh-oh
hi-ya
play:
dancing
pointing at pictures
pushing stools and chairs around the house
crawling on your sisters and kissing their heads (especially when they are watcfhing tv).
eating rocks and dirt
pushing cars and trucks

people:
mom, dad and sisters
(you love gus too, and he thinks he is a person)

when we rock you before bed you put your arms tight around
our neck and sing with us - we are puddles on the floor melted
by your sweetness - it is a miracle you ever get to bed (it probably has something to do with your sisters yelling for more stories and songs down the hall).

happy birthday bubbah-jones we love you!

happy birthday to mimi!!
(just about 4 weeks late!!)

3 years old!

favorites:

movie - curious george

princess - snow white

food - ketchup and barbeque sauce
(hence the constant hunger)

books - Bible (Jesus book),
Going on a Bear Hunt (hiking book)

clothes - tinker bell shoes,
"duck shirt" (a really ugly sweatshirt
from japan that says "what's speed:
it's my power source" - which makes
no sense and is ironic because you are
truly the slow poke of the family - and
possibly the county)

play - riding your "pink bike" (which is actually green), swinging,
painting (you are a great artist), dancing

comforts - sucking your thumb, your bed

saying - you use the word "pretty" in your own unique way
"i pretty love you mommy" "i pretty miss daddy"

prayer: every night and every meal for about 7 months
"dear jesus, please put a bandaide on nonny's
foot and make it feel better. amen."

note: you lost your tooth 3 days before
your birthday falling off of a stool onto
your face. you looked like you got hit
by a truck for a couple of days, but
you were in heaven with all of the
attention and thought going to the
dentist was the greatest thing ever.

4 years old
happy happy birthday
to
you you you!

favorites

polly pockets
dress up
bike rides
cousins
questions
daddy time
arm tickling
strawberry milk (stirred!)
stories
swinging

grandparents
movie night
meat and cheese

we all slept in the loft of our
favorite cabin the night before
your birthday (you would
have family sleepovers every
night if you could). in the morning
i rolled over and greeted you with
a "happy birthday - you are four
years old!" and you picked up your
covers and looked at yourself and
said "i'm not that age" with a look
of complete disbelief. you just thought
you would suddenly be much taller
and look different when you turned
4.

well, you can't see it, but you are
definitely so much older than a year
ago. you still love being fancy and
fairy tails, but now you know your
letters and you can breeze through
preschool workbooks. you still love
me to read you books and tickle your
arm before nap every day, but now you
can tell me how to get around town
and you can ride your bike to the
park that is a mile away. you are
still a little girl, but any hints of your
baby days are long gone.

happy birthday to my sweet girl
with the huge personality
and the enormous imagination!
i love you
oh-oh-oh the sweetest thing
